The cleats come with spare studs and an insert sock liner that is perforated to improve their comfort and keep the damp out. Perhaps one of the trendiest cleats out there right now is the Hypervenom Phantom SG from Nike. What makes this a unique cleat is the waffle textured skin which is created using two layers of mesh that are woven together and have layer of polyurethane on top. This creates a material that is breathable and flexible and it also comes with that all conditions control to help keep them dry and maintain ball contact. The Phantoms are one of the lighter soft ground cleats for soccer on the market at 7.6oz. This is worth noting as in general soft ground cleats are heavier by 1 to 2 oz than firm ground cleats because of the metal studs and how they are made.
On the bottom is a hard sole plate made from glass nylon with a separate stud plate. It has 4 molded bladed studs to the fore as well as a toe pick one, and then 2 in the heel. Then there are 6 metal studs that are removable, 11mm stud sin the forefoot and 13mm studs in the heel. With the cleats you get a stud wrench. They do weigh 10.1oz so they are one of the heavier options for soft ground cleats. They have an EVA insert, a synthetic lining and to give more comfort and stability an extended heel counter.
PUMA Evospeed 1.2 Mixed Soft Ground
These are specifically made for speed in wet and soft conditions when playing soccer. Just as its predecessor and successor the Evospeed 1 and 1.3, the upper is made from a man-made monolayer of microfiber which apparently is a lot softer and better quality than the first in this line. They also have GripTex technology from PUMA which is a 3D coating that is transparent and gives more grips on the ball in wet conditions, much like the ACC system from Nike. It weighs 8.5oz compared to Evospeed 1.2 firm ground cleats that weigh 6.8oz. It also does come in a leather version.
Under the soleplate are 12 studs which are more than usual in soft ground cleats, and Duoflex technology. 4 studs are at the heel and under the fore are 8 studs. 6 are made of metal, 2 at the heel and 4 at the fore and these can be removed. The other 6 cannot, being plastic molded studs. It is a more versatile cleat as it can be sued on both soft and firm ground. With the 1.3 version now being out, you can probably find the 1.2s for a good price too!
