Reports in Belgium today have claimed that Dick Advocaat will take over as AZ Alkmaar coach until the end of the season.

The Dutch champions sacked Ronald Koeman yesterday following the club’s poor start to the season.

A 2-1 defeat to Vitesse Arnhem on Friday was their seventh defeat in 16 matches and AZ are now all but out the Eredivisie title race.

Advocaat is currently head coach of the Belgium national team but since they are not playing in the World Cup, are only playing a few friendlies until the end of the European season.
