Ajax’s highly-rated right back Gregory van der Wiel has voiced his intention to play in a higher-profile league than the Eredivisie and would welcome a move to Premier League giants Arsenal .

In an interview in Dutch paper De Telegraaf today, van der Wiel said: "To develop I need to play well at the World Cup. That’s really all that counts now. Of course I want to play for a big club in Europe."

The 21-year-old defender added: "Of course it’s nice to read that Arsenal are interested. I consider myself a good fit for the Premier League. Robin van Persie has told me many good stories about the Premier League, Arsenal and Mr Wenger, maybe he can put in a good word for me."

Gregory van der Wiel is one of the hottest prospects in European football and has also been linked to Italian giants Juventus. He has played 24 games for Ajax this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

Vermaelen is Belgian and not Dutch Newmy though he grew up in Ajax and even captained them before coming to Arsenal. And yes, we do need a tall, strong, pacy and lethal finisher as apart from Bendtner, other cant cut it like Drogba and torres in the EPL.Dzeko, Andre Gignac or Cartlton Cole will do for me as Arshavin wont excel in that position against quality opposition in the run in for the EPL title and the next stage of the CL or even when the FA cup kicks off.
