The People newspaper report this morning that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger failed in a late January transfer deadline day bid for Everton striker Louis Saha .

Arsenal boss Wenger has long been an admirer of Saha and was eager to bring in a striker to replace long-term injury victim Robin van Persie .

According to The People, Arsenal’s "deal to sign Saha, 31, was said to have been close to completion two weeks ago but the player backed out.”

Saha has since signed a new two-year deal at Everton which was reportedly a better deal than he was offered at Arsenal due to Wenger’s policy of not offering over 30s big deals.

The French striker celebrated his new deal at Goodison Park with an impressive brace against Chelsea in midweek to seal a 2-1 win.

Arsenal meanwhile have reportedly all but sealed a move for Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh to join on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Reports last week claimed that Arsenal had missed out on Stoke keeper Thomas Sorensen on the final day of the January transfer window.

Louis Saha, my arse. Thomas Sorensen, my arse.
Good players cost money.
Wenger is a tight fisted git who will never win any more major silverware with Arsenal.
TAXI FOR ARSENE!
