Andrey Arshavin is facing a spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in Arsenal ’s victory over Liverpool last night.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed after the game that "Arshavin has a hamstring problem... We have to make a scan on Arshavin tomorrow."

The Arsenal number 23 was substituted for Theo Walcott in the 67th minute of the match. Arshavin has scored nine goals in 29 appearances for the Gunners in 2009/2010.

Arshavin was not the only Arsenal player to pick up an injury in the hard fought victory over Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool side.

Samir Nasri was replaced by Tomas Rosicky after 33 minutes due to a head injury.

Arsenal boss Wenger said after the game: "Nasri had a knock on his head. He felt unwell and I didn't want to take a chance because it was his head. That's why I took him off. He wanted to stay on but he felt sick so I didn't want to take a chance."

Arshavin will be back in a flash, a bit like Vermaelen.
He's been playing through injury anyway. I know Arshavin will do anythng to be on the pitch but we need him for our run-in. The period that really matters is coming up (March April and May) he better be rested now and be fit for that. Walcott can deputise for him for now
