Following Serbian reports earlier today that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was set to secure another promising youngster in 19-year-old Montenegrin defender Stefan Savic , IMScouting understand the deal is not as close as had been claimed.

BSK Borca defender Savic has just undergone a 10-day trial with Arsenal and Wenger is reportedly keen to secure the deal after missing out on Chris Smalling to Manchester United.

However, IMScouting’s network of scouts in Serbia have revealed that BSK Borca have demanded 2.5 million euros and Arsenal have baulked at this figure.

Negotiations are ongoing between the Serbian side and the Premier League giants, but it is possible that Savic could return from England on Thursday with no deal agreed with Arsenal.

The 6.1ft central defender told the Serbian press: "There were offers from Tottenham and Birmingham City, but once a call came from Arsenal, I had no more doubts. A pre-contract will be signed on Thursday and then I will return to Belgrade and join BSK for their preparations. I will be staying with BSK until May."

Savic made his breakthrough into the BSK Borca side last season making three appearances, this season he has played seven times and scored in his most recent performance in a 2-0 win over OFK Belgrade.

A pre-contract agreement would seem to suggest that he is out of contract in the Summer.

And after losing Smalling are we not close to signing another defender? You know that you dont know enough of the deal to condemn AW for driving a hard bargain. Did you read that United top guns are angry that they apid too much for Smalling? Calm down @age, will you?
How long b4 we forgive Wenger for our loss to Man Utd? Dont forget we lost a game , nothing more.Man Utd lost to Liverpool 2-4 at home last season but still went on to claim the title. No one called for SAF's sack at that point and the team never gave up inspite of the disappointing loss. Its stuff champions are made of;so Arsenal fans have to get over the hurt and the depreession of having lost to the defending champs and move on!
I just hope Arsenal players are not thinking the same way most fans are cos if they are, then I acceot that the season truly is over. Yes, we dont stand much chance against a Chelsea side that had beaten us earlier at home and in all honesty, we may lose the game again. But the key is never giving up even if we do lose that game...They were better on the night and punished our errors and naivety. Two seasons ago we beat them home and away and yet they won the EPL.Never blow up a result more than you should;see it as a lost 3 points and move on to the next game...
We are all hurt that we lost to Man Utd and that shows passion for the club;a great thing indeed. But we can either put the loss behind us and keep pressing on for the next 14 games, or totally give up and accept that our season has ended;what's it going to be now?

I'm not condemning AW but it seems d man has lost his midas touch.Just think abt dis,do u think Man U. and Chelsea wil not sign any top striker if they lose Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba respectively and lest i forget,we lost Nicklas Bendtner to injury b4 the RVP saga and til now, stil d same result.I would av left Arsenal a long time ago but other club don't exist.

Liquorice maybe you should check your facts a bit more. Chelsea never won the prem 2 years ago, neither did we beat them home and away. Mourinho never lost a single game at the Bridge at Chelsea. We beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Bridge last year after a double from RVP.
