Following Serbian reports earlier today that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was set to secure another promising youngster in 19-year-old Montenegrin defender Stefan Savic , IMScouting understand the deal is not as close as had been claimed.
BSK Borca defender Savic has just undergone a 10-day trial with Arsenal and Wenger is reportedly keen to secure the deal after missing out on Chris Smalling to Manchester United.
However, IMScouting’s network of scouts in Serbia have revealed that BSK Borca have demanded 2.5 million euros and Arsenal have baulked at this figure.
Negotiations are ongoing between the Serbian side and the Premier League giants, but it is possible that Savic could return from England on Thursday with no deal agreed with Arsenal.
The 6.1ft central defender told the Serbian press: "There were offers from Tottenham and Birmingham City, but once a call came from Arsenal, I had no more doubts. A pre-contract will be signed on Thursday and then I will return to Belgrade and join BSK for their preparations. I will be staying with BSK until May."
Savic made his breakthrough into the BSK Borca side last season making three appearances, this season he has played seven times and scored in his most recent performance in a 2-0 win over OFK Belgrade.
