Barcelona are not ruling out the possibility of selling Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic , Spanish newspaper La Marca reported Tuesday.
It follows a weekend outburst by the player's agent, Mino Raiola, who told Spanish station COM Radio that Barcelona boss Josep "Pep" Guardiola "should go to a mental hospital" if he no longer wishes to play Ibrahimovic, having signed the Swede for 75 million euros last summer.
Barcelona officials met Monday to discuss Raiola's remarks, and
La Marca said they agreed that offloading Ibrahimovic might be the best solution to the affair.
"We did not like the statements of his agent, especially the tone he used," said
Barcelona Director-General Joan Oliver, citing Raiola's comment about Guardiola as well as the agent saying that if the Spanish champions need money, they should sell Argentine superstar
Lionel Messi .
While insisting that "the club does not want to sell Ibrahimovic," Oliver stressed that "if things get too complicated, there will be no other solution."
During the interview with COM, Raiola also opened the door to a move to England, saying, "Ibrahimovic has never thought that Barca will be his last club, he is like [new Real Madrid manager Jose] Mourinho, and if you can win everything with Barca you need a new challenge."
Both
Manchester City and
Chelsea have recently been linked with Ibrahimovic, whose contract expires in 2014.
