New Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has declined the opportunity to sign USA international Stuart Holden and the midfielder is now set to sign for Portugese side Sporting Braga .

Scottish born Holden has spent his entire professional career at MLS side Houston Dynamo but is hoping that a move to a European league will boost his chances of selection for the USA World Cup squad.

According to the Daily Mirror, the 24 year-old impressed on a recent trial at the Reebok Stadium, but Bolton boss Coyle decided that he was no better than current players in his squad.

Holden is available on a free transfer and now that Bolton have turned down the chance to add him to their squad, highfliers Sporting Braga are set to snap him up.  Sporting are currently the surprise leaders of the Portugese Liga.

Holden already has 11 international caps to his name and will be hoping that a move to Braga will lead to both silverware and a World Cup appearance.
