Carlos Vela has hinted that he would be willing to leave Arsenal and that a successful World Cup could "open doors" for him.

The 21-year-old played in Mexico’s 3-1 defeat to England last night but missed two guilt-edged chances which could have boosted the confidence of the Arsenal forward after a season of struggle.

Vela: "It was difficult for me this year, I didn't have many opportunities when I was fit. Afterward, many injuries didn't allow me to be in good form. But I believe I still have time to get ready.''

The Mexican striker is under even more pressure at Arsenal after Arsene Wenger signed Marouane Chamakh late last week.

Vela added: "I'm only concentrated on playing for Mexico and having a good World Cup, and having a good World Cup can open many doors, if not at Arsenal , we'll see where."

He misses so many one-on-ones you have to wonder if he's got enough to play at the top level.

He's like Gabby Agbonlahor so much potential but when it comes to one on ones he just blows it all

he needs time, if bendtner who looked like a donkey early in his career (at arsenal) can become a good player with a nice run of games, so can vela. as he said himself injuries (and exhausting trips for his national side's firendly games often left too tired to play in our next game or injured). he deserves more time.

i'm more worried about eduardo, i really hope he can get his shit together next season.

bloody good riddance he's not tough enough for the premiership he's a stumbling block for better younger players coming through hopefully eboue and a few of the other waste of space will join him

I really don't think that Vela should stay, I have no doubt that he could be a good striker, but his chances will be even more limited next season with Chamakh coming in. He needs too many chances to score, and Arsenal really don't need another player who doesn't put the ball in the net after 106 passes.

Bendtner, still plays like a donkey.

Not goog enough for Arsenal. He is not a kid he is 21, Still can't take more than 1 in 10 of the chances he gets. A lazy showpony that deserves to play for some midtable spanish team where its ok to not track back and tackle and instead of holding players off you can just throw yourself on the ground if ayone comes near you. A huge disappointment. But I would get rid of Eduardo before I get rid of Vela, Eddy has absolutley nothing to offier at least there is a slim chance Vela might wake up, put the work in and improve.
