14-year-old starlet Bertrand Traore has signed for Chelsea , with Manchester United also having been keen on signing the youngster.

Traore, born in Burkina Faso, was affiliated with French club Auxerre.  Last year, he became the youngest ever player to appear in the Under-17 World Cup.

With a host of top clubs, including Manchester United chasing him, Burkina Faso sports minister Jean-Pierre Palm announced that Traore has joined Chelsea where he will continue his development.

Manchester United have made a habit of signing young talent this summer, capturing Chris Smalling , Javier Hernandez and now Portugese star 'Bebe'.

However, they may have lost out on one for the future.  Chelsea fans though will like the sound of what Burkina Faso's coach at the Under-17 World Cup had to say.

He commented, '' He can reach any level if he comes into good coaching, people who will look after him correctly and not make him a big player before he is a big player, then I think he can play at any level within five years.''
