Eidur Gudjohnsen
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will have to wait a month before he can select Eidur Gudjohnsen in his first team, according to a report in The People this morning.
The Sunday paper points to his lack of playing time at Monaco in the first half of the season whom he joined from Barcelona in the summer. Gudjohnsen made just nine appearances for the Ligue 1 side and only played 90 minutes once.
The transfer of the Icelandic striker to Spurs was confirmed yesterday and Gudjohnsen was not part of the squad that drew 1-1 with Birmingham yesterday.
Gudjohnsen has signed for Tottenham on loan for the rest of the 2009/2010 campaign and his arrival will reportedly lead to the exit of either Roman Pavlyuchenko or Robbie Keane.
The 31-year-old striker played 32 minutes in Monaco’s 3-2 win over Sochaux in the middle of January. Spurs would have hoped he would be available for crucial games against Leeds in the FA Cup and then Aston Villa in the Premier League coming up this week.
According to reports, Tottenham are only paying a percentage of Gudjohnsen’s wages with the rest covered by Monaco.
