Manchester United will have to pay 30 million pounds if they want to secure the services of Everton youngster Jack Rodwell , according to an article in the Sunday Mirror.

Sir Alex Ferguson is a long time admirer of Rodwell and is reportedly keen on pairing the 18-year-old with Chris Smalling in the Manchester United defence. Everton boss David Moyes is reluctant to sell Rodwell but will if the price is right.

A "Goodison insider" is quoted in the Sunday Mirror: "Jack is one of the brightest talents here but, although David Moyes wants to keep him, everyone has a price. It will take big money to sign him and United are interested. He [Alex Ferguson] has a good relationship with the Everton manager, unlike what happened in the summer with City."

Rodwell made his return to first team action for Everton in their 2-1 midweek win over Chelsea as a late substitute following a hamstring injury sustained in December.

In total he has played 22 games in the Premier League and Europa League in 2009/2010, scoring two goals and picking up three yellow cards.

Jack Rodwell was chosen as an IMScouting Player to Watch in September, a scouting report including video evidence can be seen here.
