Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has criticized his team for failing to kill off games and has said that Chelsea have had an easy ride with the fixture list so far this season.

Manchester United find themselves in third spot in the Premier League, trailing leaders Chelsea by five points.  Ferguson blames his side's lack of ruthlessness.

He is quoted in The Sun saying, "This present team does not kill off sides as well as they should - that's the one area where I would like to see an improvement.

"At Fulham we missed a penalty with three minutes to go, which would have made it 3-1 and put the game out of sight. We threw points away there.

"And then it was even worse at Everton, where we threw away two goals in injury time. That's unthinkable.

"We were wasteful and ultimately paid the price."

Ferguson also said that he is not worried by a lack of goals, commenting "We haven't had a problem scoring goals - we got three against Liverpool, Everton, West Ham and Newcastle. That suggests we don't have a difficulty finding the net."

He also indicated that he expects Manchester United to make up ground on Chelsea with the Blues having enjoyed relatively straightforward fixtures so far.

Ferguson said, "If you look at Chelsea 's start to the season, you'd have expected them to have won all those games.

"Meanwhile, we've had tricky trips to Fulham and Everton and played Liverpool at home."

yet again Fergie is trying his hardest to divert attention from his failing team and club infrastructure. what he fails to point out is:

1) Man USA have NOT played any team in the top half of the table, not even one team!
2) Chelsea have played 5 of their 6 games with teams in the top half, inc Arsenal & City

Man USA are financially 'shafted' and will find it almost impossible to acquire top stars (hence the mediocre signings of Bebe and that Mexican kid). The high yielding junk bond issue was a JOKE and is basically a time-bomb (can't wait for them to default on them LOL)

as for dominating the Premiership, well i'm afraid it's the beginning of the end - City have surged past and within 2 years, Man USA will be fighting it out with Liverpool, Everton and Blackburn for the runners up slot in Lancashire - PERIOD.

Has somebody told you about the UEFA financial fairplay regulations? Or are you one of those plastic fans who jump ship to any team which is at the top. Let me give you an insight of what these regulations are and how they would affect the likes of City and Chelsea. Come 2012, clubs would only be allowed to spend the profits they make on player transfers and wages. The owners' money is out of bounds. And for your knowledge, Chelsea made a 54M loss and Man City a 133M loss, evn more than their turnover. So come 2012, both these teams will hvae no money to spend on new players and will have to reduce the wages of their players drastically just to not make a loss. Chelsea's current wage bill is 145M and City's in 123M, way more than the revenue they make.
For Chelsea, how many of their main players are above 30 and would need replacing in the next couple of years? Drogba, Anelka, Malouda, Lampard, Terry, Cole, Ferreira. Abramovic and Chelsea held a press conference on 22nd Sep stating that Abramovic had inoformed the board that their would not be any more 20M + signings and that the players wages and bomuses were being reduced⁄scrapped. With all these players out and no money to replace them, where do Chelsea look like going. Mid table.
As for city, agin, most of their superstar players are at wages close to 200K, more than double the premier league average. And their income is way lower. Result. All of the superstars will have to take massive pay cuts and some will have to be sold to ensure they stay within the reglations.
And let me also tell you what the punishment is for not adhering to these regulations. Points docked in the respective leagues and a ban from all european competitions. Now qualifying for the Champs League ensures a 30M payout and if you get to the semi finals, you can make as much as 3 times that money from TV contracts, match fees and image rights.
So, before you start touting Utd's demise, be more worried about the demise of whichever blue club you support, Chelsea or Man City.

Sir Taggart is up to his old tricks again!! Although I doubt they're going to have an affect on Carlo, I can see the funny side to it e.g Red nose with egg on his face. Considering Utd have dropped 8 points in 7 games, that's almost the equivalent of losing 3 games. Funny there's no mention of that and they were lucky that the ref bottled the 100% certain penalty Vidic on Dembele Vs Fulham AND the final attack Vs Everton. Surely Utd were expected to win these games weren't they? Of course they were and shouldn't he be more concerned about his team's own issues e.g Rooney's severe addiction to prostitutes?
