Fernando Torres’ future at Liverpool is once again being questioned, despite the 2-0 win over Wolves yesterday.

A report in the News of the World this morning claims the Spanish striker will quit Liverpool if Rafa Benitez’s side don’t secure Champions League football at the end of this season.

Liverpool have already turned down a bid from Manchester City believed to be worth £70million and Chelsea have also had an offer rejected for Torres. Both Premier League rivals are believed to be preparing renewed offers for "El Nino."

Chris Bascombe writes in the News of the World: "Torres has consistently committed himself to the Liverpool cause but that is conditional on the club proving they can fulfil his ambitions. The Spaniard has become troubled by the shambolic events on and off the pitch in recent months and is seeking assurances the club will sort themselves out before the start of next season."

Bascombe adds: "Torres left his boyhood team Atletico Madrid because they could not match his Champions League and trophy- winning dreams. Liverpool 's alarming slump is leading him to a similar situation where his heart is at his current club but he may be forced to move on. Failure to finish in the top four and the continued presence of the current hierarchy would mean only blind faith could keep Torres at Anfield. He recently signed a lucrative new deal but money is not his motivation."

The Sunday paper also speculates over the future of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard . Real Madrid, Barcelona and Inter Milan are all following events closely at Anfield in the hope of luring the midfielder.

Even if he does leave us 70 million quid is enough to land both Villa and Silva.

This rubbish isn't even original. It seems to have arisen in that bastion of truth The Sunday Sun (AKA The News of the World).
We all know that Torres is going nowhere. If he does ever move it'll be back to his other favourite team, Atletico.
Remember he played for Atletico fo 12 years winning only 2 trophies in this time. he has that prized attribute, Loyalty.

This is just absolute garbage. Firstly this gets reported in N.O. the W, like anyone there would have any idea of what Torres thinks. An then you just go and repeat the rubbish. How many times does he have to say that he loves life at Liverpool. Perhaps Bascombe might have some credibility if he actually printed something that might be remotely true once in a while. He has no idea what conditions, if any, El Nino has on his staying at Liverpool.

tbh. I would think a player like Torres would want to win the Champions League, and if he feels that Liverpool FC cant achieve that, then it might be best for him to move along? .. Honestly, i think all Liverpool fans try to immediately get the thought out of their heads, and bash any report linking him AWAY from the club..
hell, even GERRARD almost left the club, and he admitted he was VERY close to signing for another club BEFORE they won the CL ... So, in all honesty, this article could be a 50⁄50 ...
