In a wide ranging interview with Spanish publication AS, Liverpool Chief Executive Christian Purslow insisted that the club is not considering a future without Rafa Benitez and will keep Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard with Champions League qualification.

When asked about the speculation, particularly in the Italian media over Benitez possibly taking over as Juventus coach, Purslow said, "It is normal that big clubs are interested in Rafa."

He continued, "Nor have we considered a future without Benitez. We have a five year plan, we have stability in the coaching staff."

Similarly questioned over the future of Liverpool's star players Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard , Purslow was asked what their future would be should the club fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Purslow firmaly stated, "We will be in the Champions League for sure" and vowed "We are not a selling club."

Despite the club's financial situation, Purslow insisted that Liverpool is not only still one of the four top clubs in the Premier League but also "one of the big four clubs in the world."

He also charted a plan for Liverpool's future, cautioning that finding new investment is key.

He said, "First step: new investment. Second step: stadium. Third, generate more profits to build a stronger team. Without investment, there is no new stadium."

But surely the reason for the club being sold to Hicks and Gillette was for THEM to provide the money for a stadium, not plunge us into debt so they can subsequently skim the profits. What a disaster.
