Respected magazine France Football reports this morning that Major League Soccer are planning to bring a host of veteran French players to American soccer.

The MLS are eager to give new impetus to their championship and have targeted a number of ageing French stars to the league.

Thierry Henry has long been linked with a move to the MLS and it could happen as early as this coming summer after the World Cup. His contract is up at the end of the 2010/2011 campaign but Henry has struggled for playing time this season.

France Football add that the MLS have also targeted Henry’s former Arsenal team mates Robert Pires and Manchester City’s Patrick Vieira . The former is out of contract at Villarreal in the summer and said he is "tempted" by the switch.

Former Barcelona midfielder Ludovic Giuly and Camel Meriem , now at Greek side Aris Aloniki, are also on the list of players that the MLS hope to lure to America.

It would awesome to see them together again: Pires, Vieira and Henry, who for a time created nightmares at International tournaments, when they were in their prime. With Giuly added to the mix, and assuming they all get on with the same team, they are talented enough that the MLS defenses would not know what to do. The Chemistry was there for them years ago, and just because they have slowed down, does not mean they can't compete and excel in a weaker system like the MLS. And the MLS needs an influx of this type of old but good talent if they want to transition to the next step in making Soccer viable economically in the States. Especially with the possible strike pending, it is time to step up the quality of players and get a taste of French magic in the States. Recall that Djorkaeff was well received by the Red Bulls fans.
