Cagliari have hinted they would be willing to offload Federico Marchetti in January, with Manchester City and Chelsea the latest clubs to be linked with the goalkeeper's signature.

"It will become important in the January transfer window," said Cagliari president Massimo Cellino. "Marchetti is training as a professional, but he made unfortunate statements in an interview. He created problems with a certain attitude, and, despite being a great guy, he could pay for his nonsense."

Marcehetti had told the Italian Sky Sports 24 that he wanted to leave in the summer transfer window, although he failed to reach a deal with any side.

Arsenal and Fulham have also been linked with Marcehellti, but according to the Italian Tutto Mercato Web site, Manchester City and Chelsea are front runners to land the 27-year-old in January due to their superior purchasing power.

AS Roma and Genoa are also interested in the stopper, who is contracted to Cagliari until 2012.
