Having rediscovered their form over the past couple of weeks, Manchester City have been hit by the news that both Vladimir Weiss and Craig Bellamy have contracted the H1N1 virus.

20 year old Slovakian Weiss was told to stay away from Saturday's 2-1 win over Chelsea, while Welshman Bellamy is reportedly recovering although he is still struggling with a knee injury.

City's assistant manager Mark Bowen said. "Players come in every day with sniffles, coughs and colds and the doctor has to determine whether it is the onset of something more serious. It is his decision whether they have to be sent home."

Meanwhile, England international Wayne Bridge has suffered a blow to his bid to impress manager Mark Hughes following some disappointing performances.  The left back was stretchered off following a challenge with Chelsea's Juliano Belletti .  It was thought that the injury would keep him out only for a couple of weeks, but scans have revealed medial ligament damage, which could sideline him for between four and six weeks.

Bridge now looks set to miss both legs of City's mouth-watering Carling Cup semi-final against Manchester United , which could set the stage for Brazilian veteran Sylvinho to make his first appearance since a summer move from Barcelona.
