Shikabala, set to be a star in Angola

One of the most surprising names to appear in Egypt's provisional squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations is Mohamed Nagi "Geddo." The Al Ittihad striker who scored four goals in 12 appearances so far this season was extremely surprised by the call-up.

"I wasn’t expecting a call-up from the national team; no one has spoken to me before today," Geddo told Egyptian media."I learnt from the internet that my name is on the list! I am determined to prove my worth to the Egypt management and I hope to be an important player for the team."

One of the most important players in the squad is Zamalek's ace Shikabala , who is set to replace the injured Mohamed Abu Treika if the Ahly maestro can't play in Angola.

Shikabala, whose last appearance on the international stage was in Egypt's 3-3 draw with Guinea in a friendly game in August, is hoping to establish himself as a regular after some impressive performances lately, reminding everyone in Egypt why he is the most talented player in the country.

"I wish I could rise to the occasion, and I'm really happy to be given this opportunity," Shikabala said.  "There are some high expectations for me, and everyone wants to see Egypt in their best form. I will do my best for the national team, and I won't settle for anything less than a regular spot in Egypt's starting line-up."
