Mohamed Zidan
Egyptian international Mohamed Zidan has claimed that Arsenal scouts watched him play in Egypt’s 3-1 defeat to England last week.
The Borussia Dortmund striker scored The Pharaohs only goal of the game after he capitalised on a Matthew Upson slip.
Zidan said yesterday: "My agent spoke to me after the game and told me about Arsenal ’s interest. He asked me to try to impress them, and become the first Egyptian to play for the Gunners."
Last month Zidan’s father told Dream TV that "Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona have talked to Mohamed's agent." The player's father said that Zidan has a clause in his contract that enables him to complete a move to any of these clubs at the end of the season.
Arsenal manager has long been rumoured to be bringing a new striker to the Emirates with Bordeaux hitman Marouane Chamakh strongly tipped to join in the summer on a free transfer.
Zidan, 28, has scored five goals in 21 appearances for Borussia Dortmund in 2009/2010 and also chipped in with five assists.
