Juventus legend Pavel Nedved has tipped Napoli's young star Marek Hamsik to be his "heir".

Nedved spent 8 years at Juventus and starred for the Czech national team in 91 appearances.  Asked about Hamsik by a Slovakian newspaper, Nedved said "Yes, I really think Hamsik will be my heir."

22 year-old Hamsik has scored 8 goals in 20 games for fourth placed Napoli this season and has a similar record for the Slovakian national team.

Neved added, "Marek is doing very well at Napoli and I don't see why he shouldn't do well with his national team in South Africa.  Slovakia is a team full of young talent and will be one of the surprises of the World Cup."

Hamsik has been followed by a host of top European clubs, including Barcelona.

Nedved said, "I see many similarities between me and him.  His playing style is very similar to mine actually."
