Both QPR and Middlesbrough are looking to sign Julian Speroni and Darren Ambrose from Crystal Palace , according to reports this morning.

The Daily Mirror reports that Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan made an inquiry for midfielder Ambrose yesterday and is also keen on Argentinian goalkeeper Speroni.

31 year-old Speroni is considered to be one of the top keepers in the Championship and is a popular figure at Selhurst Park, having joined Palace in 2004. Meanwhile, free-scoring midfielder Ambrose netted fifteen times last season, having joined from Charlton Athletic last summer.

However, Strachan is facing stiff competition from former Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock, now manager at QPR.  Warnock has been linked to his former Palace players, particularly Ambrose and Speroni almost from the moment he took over at Loftus Road at the beginning of March.

The Daily Mail reports that Warnock has already made a £750,000 offer for Ambrose and will also look to bring Speroni to QPR, to challenge Radek Cerny for the number one slot.

Warnock made his first permanent signing for QPR yesterday, capturing striker Jamie Mackie from Plymouth Argyle.
