Argentinean giants River Plate have made a bid for striker Ernesto Farias who is in his third season at FC Porto since leaving the club.
New River Plate president Daniel Passarela is leading the move to sign Farias with Porto hoping to recoup four million euros for the striker.
Reports in both Portugal and Argentina suggest Farias may return to River on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent move.
Farias has scored five goals in 16 appearances for Porto this season, he has also chipped in with two assists.
The 29-year-old striker has only started and completed 90 minutes twice in 2009/2010.
