Former England and Mexico national team coach Sven-Goran Eriksson will lead Ivory Coast at the World Cup, according to a report in L’Equipe this morning.

Representatives of the football federation of Ivory Coast will meet with Eriksson this week in Paris to conclude the deal.

Vahid Halilhodzic was sacked as coach of the Ivory Coast in late February and a number of names have been linked with taking over the Flying Elephants.

Guus Hiddink was heavily rumoured and Frenchmen Bruno Metsu and Philippe Troussier were also names suggested to guide the Ivory Coast in South Africa.

Gerard Gili, a French boss currently in charge of Umm-Salal in Qatar, is tipped to take over the Ivory Coast after the World Cup.
