Cristiano Ronaldo

As the January transfer window approaches, this special report delves into the IMScouting database to find the most effective signing from summer 2009.

The report calculates the number of goals and assists in relation to minutes played for each player transferred during summer 2009.

Many of last summer's big money transfers make the top twenty list, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema from the latest generation of Real Madrid 'Galacticos'.  Not to be outdone, Barcelona's big purchase, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also shown to be very good value for money.

There are of course some younger prospects who look to be wise investments for the future, such as 23 year-old Radamel Falcao , who joined Porto from River Plate.

However, the report interestingly shows how older, more experienced players make for excellent signings, particularly for clubs who are looking for an immediate impact.  Prominent in the top ten are players such as Inter Milan's 30 year old striker Diego Milito , FC Basel 's Alexander Frei and top of the entire list isAjax's Marko Pantelic.  The 31 year-old striker has scored 8 goals since his move from Hertha Berlin.

The special report can be seen below.  You can see all special reports at theIMScouting special report section

You can also calculate your own  reports at the IMScouting report generator, which creates instant comparisons of players and teams from every league in the world.

la lista esta basada en partidos jugados y goles ? o en que se basan para hacer esa lista?, porq me extrana no mirar a ANTONIO VALENCIA del manchester united, tiene 6 goles y varias asistencias esta temporada en el club.

Nice to see that Djibrill Cisse is still producing goals
Fredrik,December 25, 2009
Where is Darren Bent. The idea that Cisses's transfer is more effective is laughable.

what bent is no where to be seen come on he should be the no.1 signing oh and vermaelen should have been on that list so sad to see that kaka is not there

i think the spanish dude called daniel below might be making the same point as me, but this can't be called a list of the "most effective signings" because it si totally offensively-biased. I'd argue that Arsenal's signing of Vermalaen, for example, was a much more "effective" signing than most of this list of 20 transfers
