'Tottenham and Chelsea chase Utrecht striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel'

Tottenham and Chelsea are among those chasing FC Utrecht striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, according to Italian reports.

The Tutto Mercato Web site says that as well as Tottenham and ChelseaNewcastle United , Birmingham City and Turkish side Bursaspor are also in the race for Van Wolfswinkel's signature.

And the Dutch Algemeen Dagblad newspaper has confirmed heavy interest from English clubs.

Van Wolfswinkel has scored a staggering 15 goals in 15 games this season.

The 21-year-old sensation has good ball control and amazing movement and positional sense inside the box. He is fast and is composed in one-on-one situations.

He is valued at some €6.5 million.

Afonso Alves scored 49 goals in 47 matches in Holland.... then he went to Middlesborough and did nothing worthwhile. Point is that scoring goals freely in the Eredivisie is no guarantee of success, or even talent.
