Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has praised David Bentley for his performance in the 3-1 FA Cup fourth round replay win at Leeds last night.

Whilst Spurs striker Jermain Defoe took the plaudits for his hat-trick, Bentley provided two assists and impressed at Elland Road.

Spurs boss Redknapp said after the game: "When his attitude is right we have a good player. He showed that tonight. Bentley has come back in and played well. He is outstanding. When Aaron Lennon is fit, it is a nice problem. You need that competition."

Benley also commented after the win: "I want to play every game and I won’t take it for granted... My time at Tottenham has been hard, but I have enjoyed the last few games. So few games in a year has been difficult. I just want to get back playing and stay there."

Aaron Lennon is expected to be out with a groin injury for at least another fortnight, David Bentley should now hold his place on the right side of midfield for Spurs.

The 25-year-old winger has played five games for Tottenham in the Premier League this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

The more I see Bentley play, the more I realise what a good player he is. He played a pivotal role in our match against Leeds last night. Let us not make the mistake of selling him as it was hinted at one time. Let us encourage him by making him play more often as he is a great talent and has much to offer. to his team,
