Tottenham are set to approach Manchester City 's Youth Academy Director Jim Cassell to oversee the development of the next generation of Spurs players, according to the Daily Mirror.

Tottenham have been looking to boost their youth set-up for some time and were reported to have offered former Portsmouth manager Paul Hart a role before he took the manager's job at QPR.

Cassell has been in charge of Manchester City 's academy since 1997 and has overseen the development of a glut of talent including Shaun Wright-Phillips , Micah Richards , Stephen Ireland and Joey Barton .  Cassell's fledglings were responsible for lifting the FA Youth Cup for Manchester City in 2008.

Although Cassell has spent the bulk of his career in the north-west as a player at Bury and a scout at Oldham Athletic, the Daily Mirror reports that Tottenham are confident of persuading him to move to London and his name is "top of the list at White Hart Lane."

There is no way on earth Manchester City and Shiehk Mansour will allow this to happen so dream on, Spurs probably could not afford Cassells wage anyway.

Stupid Spuds are out of their league trying to buy our youth and youth god.

Pathetic attempt to wind us up.

"Although Cassell has spent the bulk of his career in the north-east as a player at Bury and a scout at Oldham Athletic"
I forgot Oldham and Bury were right next to Newcastle and Sunderland.

Point 1 the article says North West. Point 2 he may want to move to a club with a bit of history instead of staying at a small (but rich) club WITH NO HISTORY what have city ever won.

Why on earth would he take a step down to join spurs when he's at one of the biggest clubs in world football?
BOB,January 11, 2010
One of the biggest clubs in the world?

Dont make me laugh. As i said, so clueless.

You need to open your eyes son, spurs will not be in the CL any time in the next 10 years, I guarantee we will win it in the next 5. Why you think anyone would want to move to spurs with brown bag 'arry in charge is beyond me, stop deluding yourself.
BOB,January 11, 2010
Im not denying the fact you may go on to win the CL within 'x' amount of years, wether it be 2, 5 or 10 years. This however does not make you one of the biggest clubs in the world right now and until you do so you never will be.

Also i never said anything about Jim Cassell joining us, i was merely reminding you and your deluded fans that your not the massive club you claim to be.

1 of the biggest clubs in WORLD football?after the game was called off i needed somthing 2 cheer me up thanks BOB. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
yido,January 12, 2010
I can see why you would need cheering up after losing your 4th place to little old citeh. Your lot has had many years of investment and wasted chances and to be quite blunt you have blown your chances of being a top 4 club, at least for the foreseeable future. So sit back and watch how a big club does it.
BOB,January 12, 2010
