The reliable Arsenal website Young Guns reports that the Gunners are closing in on a deal for 15-year-old American Luis Gil.

The attacking midfielder has been training with Arsenal since May 11, 2009 and is set to join the club’s youth academy.

Gil came through the ranks at the Pateadores Soccer Club in California and claimed a goal and two assists for the US Under-17 side in their CONCACAF Championship victory against Cuba in April.

Liam Brady, head of Youth Development at Arsenal, is still assessing the youngster and according to Young Guns, Gil "could seal a permanent place in the Arsenal Academy within weeks."
