Reports this morning claim that Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle have sent scouts to this evening’s match between Scotland and Norway, to check out Brann Bergen winger Erik Huseklepp.

Chelsea are thought to be favourites to sign the 24-year-old and according to a report in the Daily Telegraph this morning, "[Carlo] Ancelotti is lining up a £2.5m bid for 24-year-old Norwegian midfielder Erik Huseklepp."

Huseklepp, came through the ranks at Brann Bergen, making his debut in 2005. He is currently in a rich vein of form, having scored seven goals and provided three assists in the last eight games.

The 24-year-old is contracted to Brann Bergen until the end of 2010 and although he is predominantly a right-sided midfielder can also play as an out-and-out striker.

Scouts in Norway describe Huseklepp as a player who is "full of flair and can be unpredictable. He played as a striker a lot during 2008, but lacks finishing skills, although he creates a lot on his own. At his best as a winger who can be exceptionally dangerous thanks to excellent dribbling and good crossing."

Video evidence of Erik Huseklepp in action can be seen below, in particular the first goal on the video, scored against Stabaek in June, is one of the best goals scored in Norway this season.
