Ukranian striker Andriy Shevchenko could spend the 2009/2010 season on loan at Turkish giants Fenerbahce alongside Middlesbrough striker Tuncay, according to a report in the News of the World this morning.

The Sunday tabloid claim "Christoph Daum, boss of the Turkish giants, is launching a determined bid to snap" up Shevchenko despite his claims just a few days ago that he would like to see out the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

The News of the World adds that "Daum is also close to persuading Middlesbrough frontman Tuncay to return home on loan. But Boro would have to pay part of his £55,000-a-week wages for the deal to go through."

Shevchenko, 32, spent last season on loan at Italian giants AC Milan, in 25 appearances he scored just one goal.

Tuncay scored in Middlesbrough’s 3-0 win over Swansea yesterday, manager Gareth Southgate admitted on Friday that "we don't expect to have Tuncay beyond the end of this month."
