Alexander Hleb, currently on loan at Stuttgart from Barcelona last night praised Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor despite the Scottish team's 2-0 defeat to the German side.

Hleb was surprised at the ease of Stuttgart's victory, "We came here to win and Rangers allowed us to play our own game. It was a very important match for both teams but I was really surprised that Rangers weren't more aggressive."

"We were surprised just how much space and time Rangers allowed us. We had so much time."

But the former Arsenal player and Belarus international singled out McGregor and tipped him for future success. "I think the Rangers keeper played very well… Good keepers like this will always have the chance to go to the Premiership and he could certainly play for a team of the quality of Manchester City or Manchester United." 

McGregor has been linked with West Ham previously but with 4 international caps and Champions League experience to his name the Scottish keeper could be a candidate to succeed veteran Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar who is expected to make a decision on his future next month.
