Croatian giants Hajduk Split have appointed former Napoli boss Edy Reja as their new head coach.

Reja expressed his delight over the move: "I have come to a club with great tradition and it was so exciting to be standing there in their trophy room. We want to do well this season, work towards the future and next year try to win the title."

The Italian tactician added: "The language will not be a problem, as I understand Slavic and speak it fairly well. In any case, players only need a few clear words and they all know the language of the football field."

Reja has signed a two-year contract with Hajduk Split and replaces Ivica Kalinic, who was hospitalised soon after taking over from Ante Mise, with a heart problem.
