Defoe, a doubt for the trip to Bolton
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that
Jermain Defoe is a doubt for England’s matches against Ukraine and Belarus next week due to a broken hand.
The 26-year-old striker was substituted in the 57th minute of the 5-0 win over Burnley last Saturday after dislocating two fingers and fracturing his hand.
Harry Redknapp: "He is struggling. Jermain dislocated two fingers against Burnley last Saturday and they couldn't get them back in."
Redknapp added: "But he has also fractured his hand. He spent all Saturday night in hospital and is struggling. Hopefully, he'll be OK for England but we'll have to wait and see."
Defoe is now a doubt for Tottenham’s match against Bolton on Saturday and was in a rich vein of form for both club and country prior to this injury.
In 2009/2010 Defoe has claimed five goals in seven Premier League matches for Spurs and he has also scored five goals in his last four England internationals.
