Following reports yesterday that Lotthar Matthaus had been appointed the new coach of struggling Argentinean side Racing, the former Germany legend has put the record straight in German newspaper Bold today.

Matthaus: "The contract has been finalized 80% but there are still some details to clarify."

From the comments given to the German newspaper, it appears that Matthaus’ decision depends on his wife: "I must first speak with her; we will only go there if she can work as a supermodel."

Racing’s chairman Rodolfo Molina had announced the appointment of Matthaus following a 1-1 draw with Lanus on Saturday.

Racing are currently in 19th position in the Argentinean Primera Division, having picked up just five points from 10 games of the Apertura. They are yet to claim a league victory in 2009/2010.
