A report in the News of the World this morning claims "Manchester United are poised to make a £5million move for Argentine wonderkid Daniel Villalva."

Tom Lake reports: "Villalva, who plays for River Plate, has already been labelled the new Lionel Messi and is attracting interest from a number of top European clubs, including Real Madrid. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is planning to send scouts to watch the talented forward play in the Under-17 World Cup in Nigeria and clinch his signature ahead of their rivals."

Villalva has been one of the youngsters to breakthrough into the River Plate side this season, he made his debut in August in a 4-3 win over Chacarita Juniors and marked the occasion with a goal.

The 5.5ft striker can play through the middle or on either wing and so far this season has scored three goals in seven appearances.

Scouts in Argentina describe Villalva as “very talented, the biggest promise currently at River Plate. He is very fast and creative, and one of his virtues is excellent finishing.”

Video evidence of Daniel Villalva in action can be seen below.
