Adam Johnson
Manchester United have pinpointed Middlesbrough winger as the long-term replacement for Ryan Giggs, according to a report in the Sunday Mirror.
Brian McNally writes: "Manchester United will head a posse of Premier League clubs trying to pinch much-coveted Middlesbrough winger
Adam Johnson in a cut-price January deal."
McNally adds: "The boyhood Old Trafford fan has been tracked by Fergie for well over a year. He sees the left-sided midfielder, who can also play on the right, as a possible long-term replacement for Ryan Giggs."
The 22-year-old winger has been in fine form in the Championship, scoring five goals and providing four assists in 11 appearances for Middlesbrough so far this season.
Johnson is out of contract at the end of the 2009/2010 campaign and is reportedly being tracked by a host of clubs including Spurs, Everton, Fulham and Sunderland.
