A report in The Times this morning claims that "Marseilles have said that Villa have offered to give a trial to Elliot Grandin, the 21-year-old forward who is available on loan. He began his career at Caen."
The 21-year-old right-sided attacking midfielder came through the ranks at Caen, joining OM in 2007/2008. This season he has made 11 appearances, almost all of them as a substitute, claiming two goals.
According to IMScouting, Grandin is a "dribbler" worth around 2.5 million euros. The 5.8ft midfielder can also play as a central attacking midfielder.
IMScouting's network of scouts in France describe Grandin as "a young player with good potential. Since his arrival from Caen, he has been a substitute, but when he plays, he is useful and effective. His principal quality is his technique. Unfortunately, he needs to be more professional in his personal life."
Video evidence of Grandin in action can be seen below.
