Delio Rossi has been appointed the new coach of Palermo, he replaces Walter Zenga who was sacked after the 1-1 draw with Catania on Sunday. The former Lazio boss has signed a contract until 2011.
A statement from Palermo said: "Palermo announces that it has appointed Delio Rossi as the coach of the first team. He has signed a contract until June 30, 2011, with an option for the club to extend the contract for a further campaign."
Palermo are currently 12th in Serie A, having picked up 17 points from 13 games. The bottom side Siena also appointed a new coach yesterday in a bid to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.
Alberto Malesani has been installed as the new Siena coach, replacing caretaker Marco Baroni.
Malesani is the permanent replacement for Marco Giampaolo. He has signed a contract until June 2010 with the option to renew if Siena avoid the drop.
