Former Ghana and Bayern Munich centre back Samuel Kuffour has announced that he is retiring from professional football.
Kuffour, 32, had an offer from Russian side FC Khimki but his career has waned since leaving Bayern Munich in 2005. The Ghanaian centre back struggled for a first team place at Roma and has spent the past couple of seasons on loan at Livorno and Ajax.
During twelve seasons at Munich, Kuffour established himself as one of the best centre backs in Europe. He was an integral member of the side that won the Champions League in 2001 and he won seven Bundesliga titles during his time in Germany.
