A report in Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo claims today that Sevilla are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida.

Following some impressive performances at the Under-20 World Cup in Egypt, Atletico Madrid were linked with the central midfielder.

Earlier this week, reports in England suggested the Gunners would offer Merida a new five-year deal to keep him from returning to Spain.

Merida has played just 19 minutes of Premier League football this season as he looks to live up to his billing as "the new Cesc Fabregas."
