Michael Johnson
“Tottenham will make a £6million move for Manchester City midfield ace Michael Johnson in the January window,” according to a report in The Sun this morning.
Mark Irwin writes: "Boss Harry Redknapp feels Spurs are short in the middle of the park. And he is ready to test City's resolve to hang on to a player who has fallen down the pecking order after a year out."
Redknapp is quoted in the article: "Central midfield is the one area we don't have a lot of players. We've only got Palacios, Huddlestone and Jenas and I don't have many options there."
Michael Johnson, 21, has made one substitute appearance this season after missing the majority of the 2008/2009 campaign with a groin problem.
When he burst on to the scene in 2006/2007, Johnson established himself as a lively midfielder who could both attack and defend.
Yesterday Spurs were rumoured to be closing in on the January signing of Internacional defensive midfielder Sandro.
