Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is reportedly close to securing the signing of Cameroon defensive midfielder Modeste M’Bami.
The 26-year-old Cameroon international (33 caps/2 goals) has impressed during a trial period at the club and will add strength and physical presence to the midfielders currently at the DW Stadium.
M’Bami has spent his whole career up till now in France with Sedan, PSG and most recently Marseille. Last season, he played 32 times for OM, provided two assists and also picked up three yellow cards.
Although predominantly a defensive midfielder, M’Bami can also play as an attacking midfielder and scouts in France describe him as a player with “beautiful technique with lots of energy who likes to come forward whenever possible. He does though have a volatile character.”
M'Bami scored one goal during his time at Marseille, during his first campaign at the club, it can be seen on the video below.
