The agent of Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has reacted quickly to the news that Manchester City were interested in signing the Israeli playmaker.

A report in the News of the World this morning claimed "Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is monitoring Yossi Benayoun 's situation at Liverpool as he prepares for the January transfer window."

Benayoun’s agent Ronen Katsav is quoted in the Israeli press today: "Naturally, a player playing well at Liverpool will always have other teams interested in him."

Katsav added: “It is a great compliment that there is interest from high level teams across Europe but Yossi is very happy at Liverpool and only in the summer agreed a new four-year contract for four more seasons."

Yossi Benayoun has played 10 matches in the Premier League and Champions League this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
