The idea of traveling abroad while you work is very appealing to many people, the right job can earn you a good income and allow you the opportunity to see and experience other cultures at the same time.

While many may see it as a lot of paperwork to fill out and a chore of job hunting, some have a passion for such adventure. For those of you who are looking to have this experience and create a memory that will stay with you for the rest of your life here are some tips about the process and what types of international travel jobs you might want to consider.


There are many international jobs you could consider but here we focus on three of the top choices; teaching, working for an airline and the foreign service. Working in the Foreign Service

Choosing this career gives a number of opportunities in working overseas and it pays well too. There are skill tests and a Foreign Service Exam to pass first though. However should you pass that stage and meet their requirements being part of the Foreign Service can be very rewarding. There are embassies and consulates all around the world at which officers’ work, in your first postings you are likely to see and experience countries some people have never heard of. Later on with experience come the larger and important cities like Paris, London, Singapore or Buenos Aires for example. There are other benefits to this career as well as seeing the world. A good salary, top schooling for any children you have, housing, paid home leave and vacation.

Teaching English as a Foreign Language

This is a job that has high demand in places like China, South Korea and South East Asia. TEL has grown rapidly in recent years especially amongst recent graduates who want to have that experience before settling on a career back home. What is good about this job is that you do not actually require a teaching degree to do it, just a bachelor’s degree. If you want to teach in other parts of the world those requirements may be more specific.


Become an airline employee

This has long been a way people have chosen to combine their career with their desire to travel. Working for an international airline as cabin crew or a pilot is not something just anyone can do though, especially the latter. You will need to get the right qualifications but if you do choose to follow this career path you can expect to stay in luxury hotels paid for by your employer and when you are not working you can explore the places your flight path takes you.
