Let’s get this out of the way once and for all – we don’t see any ring.

However, the ABC news anchor is so good at keeping things under wraps and hasn’t confirmed or denied any speculations about his personal affairs. Despite the incessant inquiries about his relationships, he never once gave in.

Are you curious as well whether David Muir is married or not? Well, stick your nose in.

So, Is David Muir Married or Single?

Honestly, we do believe he’s married, but it’s not what you think. Based on his activities and social media posts, he seems dotingly committed to his extended family and career.

Fair enough, right?

The Family Man

David Muir has never showed up in public with a wife or kids, but he’s been seen with other family members, particularly his nephews and nieces. He once referred to himself as a “proud uncle.”

He obviously loves spending time with them. You’ll see on his Instagram posts where he shares family milestones, like his niece’s graduation, or even as simple as his nephew’s car choices.

Needless to say, David Muir shares a loving relationship with his sister, Rebecca Muir, the mother of the mentioned nephews and nieces. Other than these, Muir likes to keep things on the down low.

Besides his extended family, we often see Muir with his adorable German Shorthaired Pointer, Axel. He treats this pooch as family and claims that Axel has been a source of comfort and happiness to him amid the demands of his work.

Married to His Career

David Muir’s career in journalism started in 1995 with WTVH. He credits the biggest influence in his career to Peter Jennings who’s been with ABC News from 1964 to 2005.

Read more about it below.

Career Timeline

After WTVH, Muir briefly worked with WCVB television for three years as a news anchor and reporter. Muir joined the ABC News team in 2003. He worked as an anchor for various programs such as:

  • World News Now
  • World News This Morning (America This Morning)
  • World News Saturday

In 2012, he got his own weekend news broadcast, World News with David Muir. Then, he was promoted to co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas in the program, 20/20 the following year.

During his time with the ABC News channel, David Muir covered some of the most intense happenings in the world.

For example, Muir and his team of cameramen were in the New Orleans Superdome during the onslaught of Hurricane Katrina. Muir was also on the border of Israel and Lebanon to bring word on the war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Muir also reported from the Gaza Strip in 2007 to report on the Hamas coup. In the same year, he flew to Peru to cover one of the worst earthquakes that the country has ever survived.

Muir took Diane Sawyer’s place as ABC News anchor and managing editor in June 2014. In September of the same year, World News Tonight with David Muir was recognized as the most-watched evening news program.

One of his latest feats is landing the position of the lead anchor of ABC’s breaking news and special event coverages, in place of George Stephanopoulos.

These are just a few of Muir’s expeditions in his career of almost three decades. Perhaps, this justifies why he’s so preoccupied that he hasn’t found the time to fool around a bit.

Awards and Distinctions

In his early years working with ABC News, Muir received the regional Edward R. Murrow Award for investigative reporting and the National Headliner Award.

Muir was recognized by the Council on International Non-Theatrical Events (CINE) for his coverage of the heroin epidemic in the country.

His report also tackled the lack of treatment and rehabilitation programs for heroin addicts, which was applauded by its viewers, particularly by educators and legislators.

The programs that he’s worked in have also received the following Emmy Awards:

  • 20/20 – Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story in a News Magazine
  • ABC News Specials – Outstanding News Special
  • ABC News: Inauguration 2009 – Outstanding Live Coverage of a Current News Story – Long Form

In 2009, Muir shared the WGA Award for News – Regularly Scheduled, Bulletin or Breaking Report alongside Joel Siegel and Karen Mooney.

People love mystery. The more that David Muir tries to keep his personal affairs private, the more intrigued his fans are.

There are rumors about his past relationships and sexuality, but due to a lack of evidence, they remain speculations to this day. So, whether David Muir is married or not, we have nothing to confirm it, unfortunately.

One thing’s for sure, though: David Muir is good at keeping secrets, and we respect that.
