Naruto is one of the most popular manga series in existence. So, in the height of online streaming services, fanboys and fangirls are wondering, “Is Naruto Shippuden on Netflix?”
Well, I have a couple of news for you: it is on Netflix. However, it’s only available to subscribers in selected regions. Don’t despair just yet because there are other ways to watch Naruto.
Do you want to know how?
Then, read on.
Is Naruto Shippuden on Netflix?
There are 21 seasons of the Naruto Shippuden series with a total of 500 episodes. However, not everyone started watching as soon as it was released on February 15, 2007.
Good thing there are online streaming platforms, such as Netflix, to help you catch up with the latest episodes or re-watch older ones.
Sadly, Netflix uses geofilters, so some of your favorite shows, like Naruto, may not be accessed in some parts of the world. Moreover, even if your country’s among the lucky few, there’s no guarantee that all the seasons and movies will be available.
For now, here are the locations where Naruto Shippuden may be streamed via Netflix:
- Japan: all 21 seasons
- France: all 21 seasons
- Germany: all 21 seasons
- Canada: 10 seasons only
- Brazil: 5 seasons only
Why Is Naruto Shippuden Not Available in My Region?
Same Netflix, different countries, different shows. How is this possible?
This is mainly because of licensing agreements. Every country has a different take on regulating intellectual property, royalties, and copyrights, so Netflix isn’t really the one to blame here.
That explains why some shows’ accessibility varies by location, or your downloaded videos are suddenly not available when you’re traveling abroad.
In other words, the issue is a much more complicated legal matter than Netflix just randomly picking what shows you can and can’t watch.
Other Platforms to Watch Naruto Shippuden Besides Netflix
Is your country listed above? If yes, then good for you! If not, don’t worry because there are other ways to watch Naruto Shippuden.
You can watch Naruto Shippuden on Hulu with an ad-supported plan, although there are ad-free options. Only nine Naruto Shippuden seasons are available on Hulu for now.
The first month is free, by the way.
Amazon Prime Video
This is a more expensive option, although Amazon Prime offers a 30-day free trial for new subscribers.
I only recommend subscribing if you have other reasons for it and not just for watching a show or two. That way, you can maximize the benefits of this platform.
Just like Netflix, however, Naruto Shippuden on Amazon Prime may not be available worldwide. Additionally, only 10 seasons of the series are on Amazon’s streaming service.
All 21 seasons of Naruto Shippuden are available on Apple TV, but then again, they’re not available in all countries. So be sure to check first before subscribing, but it’s good to know that even Apple TV offers a free trial to new subscribers as well.
Depending on the package that you choose, you may watch Naruto Shippuden via DirecTV. It’s available in selected countries, too, but more than Netflix’s availability.
However, this may be a bit expensive, too, plus a 24-month lock-in period. Also, we checked, and only 19 seasons of the Naruto Shippuden series are available on this platform.
Can I Use VPN to Watch Naruto Shippuden on Netflix?
The main use of virtual private networks (VPNs) is to protect your online privacy and security. Bypassing geoblocks is only an added feature, which surprisingly works effectively for this purpose.
How to Download and Install VPN
There are many VPN service providers in the market. All you have to do is download it from its trusted website and follow the installation prompt.
Once it’s successfully installed, launch the software. You’ll be presented with a list of servers. Select a country where Naruto Shippuden is available and connect.
Then, open Netflix and see if you can watch your favorite anime now. If not, try connecting to a different server until your desired show is available.
Remember that VPNs also come with a cost, so consider this when deciding.
We know that feeling: getting all giddy opening Netflix and typing in the title of your favorite show, only to be told that it isn’t available to watch in your area.
Disappointing as it may be, don’t let it ruin your mood. There are still ways to watch your favorite anime by using a VPN or trying other streaming apps and websites.
I recommend using only trusted websites and apps because you may be putting your privacy and device at risk if you don’t take proper precautions.
