While we often tackle news about successful people, today’s blog is a little different. Kayleigh Hustosky, a 29-year-old woman was found dead in her house after her husband called 911 and claimed she had shot him in the arm. What exactly happened? Is it all true? And what if something else has happened that they haven’t told us about? Let’s start from the beginning…
How Did the Incident Start?
In August 2018, Officer Dylan Hustosky of the Gates Mills P.D. called 911, telling them that his wife, Kayleigh Hustosky, had shot him in the arm. The operator tried to instruct Dylan to use any piece of clothing to tourniquet his arm and slow down the bleeding, but the call was cut short when he started screaming the word “please.” before the line was cut off.

The Aftermath
The police immediately responded to the call at 4:15 P.M. on Monday. Upon arriving at the scene, they found Dylan in the driveway of Heritage Middle School with two gunshot wounds in his left arm. The police then surrounded the house and attempted to contact Kayleigh, but their efforts were unsuccessful. She didn’t open the door or respond to their calls. This was threatening enough to the police that they called in S.W.A.T. teams, who also failed to contact or acquire visual contact with Kayleigh.
The Harrowing Discovery

It was only at 7:42 P.M. of the same day when the police decided to break into the house after failing to contact Kayleigh, only to find her lying on the ground with a single gunshot wound. She had already passed away by the time they found her. There was nothing they could do.
The Public Response
The passing of Kayleigh Hustosky left so many questions unsolved. Why did she shoot her husband? What was Dylan’s explanation for the incident? How did he manage to escape? Officially, none of these questions were answered. However, the public had two harrowing theories as to what could have happened. Theory 1: Dylan Staged the Whole Thing
Some people believe that Dylan is the one who fatally shot his wife, but then inflicted two non-lethal gunshot wounds on himself and called 911 to cover it up. The uncanny thing that makes some sense in this theory is the weapon used in the incident. The Authorities said that the weapon used was not a service weapon. In other words, it’s not Dylan’s. The people are wondering why the wife would bear the trouble of getting another weapon when she could have used her husband’s firearm.
Theory 2: He Wanted to Leave Her
Some people believe that Dylan wanted to leave Kayleigh after their 2.5-year-old marriage. This theory is based on some inaudible chatter in the 911 call that sounded something like: “I will stay with you. Please, I will stay with you.” You can listen to the 911 call here. The Mystery Remains
It doesn’t seem like this mystery will be revealed, at least to the public eye; not with all these unanswered questions. For example, Kayleigh’s lack of response suggests that she may have already been deceased when the police arrived. Yet, the background noise, the screaming, and the “banging” sound audible in the 911 call suggest that his wife may have actually been chasing him with a gun. You can track many theories like this. But unless the authorities decide to provide us with more information, we’re in the dark.
