Manchester United are said to have stepped up the chase for young Panathinaikos sensation Sotiris Ninis .

But the Reds will have to battle Barcelona for the 20-year-old playmaker, and according to Spanish sources, the Nou Camp is his preferred destination.

AC Milan and Real Madrid are also chasing Ninis, but Manchester United have reportedly already opened talks with Panathinaikos Athens over an £8-million deal.

Ninis, the youngest ever player to appear for Panathinaikos and now captain of the Greek giants, played 36 games last season, scoring four goals and providing five assists.  He has also played seven matches for the Greek national team.

Ninis is fast and a good dribbler.  Although he prefers the playmaker role, he can also be utilized in the right side of midfield.

How old is this story, you never get it right anyway, Chicarito, Bebe and Smalling were all signed before you even got a sniff of it.

Utter non-sense story once again on this site.

United have opened talks .. This is laughable. Everyone knows that if United wanted him he'd be a united player by now.

I concur with Anderson above, all news relating to MU are always rubbish. In excess of 50 transfers were mentioned during the World Cup with absolute zero correct.

Its not about united not wanting him, they do its just that Panathinaikos had not won a domestic league cup in years so if they sell him off too soon they would really anger their fans, he is prob. getting sold in the next transfer but on the condition that he be loaned back to Pan. for the remainder of this campaign.
