Israeli coach Ronny Levy has signed a one-and-a-half year contract with Romanian side Unirea Urziceni .
The 43-year-old coach will replace Dan Petrescu who moved on to coach Russian side Kuban. Unirea, who played this season in the UEFA Champions League, will meet Liverpool in the next round of the Europa League.
Levy was recently fired from Israeli minor side Maccabi Petach Tikva, following a disappointing first half of the season. However, previously he led local giants Maccabi Haifa to three championships in a row and some remarkable successes on the European stage.
Levy, a legendary Maccabi Haifa midfielder, is expected to earn 150k euros this season in Unirea, whilst next season his salary is expected to rise to 300k.
The president of Unirea, Mihai Stoica, said to the Romanian press: "Ronny Levy is a true professional who did a very good job, both in the local league and in Europe. I know him very well from the time he coached Maccabi Haifa. We want to remain on top and to return to the UEFA Champions League next season."
